Corporate Responsibility Reporting

In the fall of 2009, Capital Power’s predecessor company, EPCOR Utilities Inc., issued a Corporate Responsibility Report. It is the first Corporate Responsibility Report the company has issued that follows the Global Reporting Initiative guidelines.

The report covers the calendar year 2008, and includes information on the impacts of Capital Power’s operations, and the initiatives undertaken by its people. Once issued, highlights from the report that relate to Capital Power’s operations will be available on this web-site.

Capital Power and EPCOR have a long tradition of public disclosure of its environmental impacts and a commitment to transparency.

In the late 1990s, our predecessor company issued Environment and Sustainable Development Reports to accompany its Annual Reports. We also disclosed environmental and other impacts through the Voluntary Challenge registries. These reports are available at www.ghgregistries.ca.

Our power plants—above a threshold level—publicly file their emission and plant efficiency numbers every year, with Canada’s National Pollutant Release Inventory. These reports are available at http://www.ec.gc.ca/inrp-npri/.

In addition, residents near our Genesee Power Plant receive newsletters every two months that detail the plant’s emissions in comparison to regulated standards. Much additional information on corporate governance contained in Capital Power’s final prospectus, and in future Annual Information Forms, available at www.sedar.com

The corporate responsibility report will consolidates in one place key information from all these areas, and contains some data never before reported in a consolidated manner.
